Hi all,

Am currently half way through my engine rebuild and the bill for the parts I need to finish the job are more than I can afford, so I'm selling the engine as parts to try and recuperate some costs.

The engine was running well before I pulled it out but it was leaking oil from the headgasket and coolant from the coolant temperature sensor housing. I assumed the head gasket was leaking the coolant but this was not the case.

I will get pics tomorrow but I have:-

1. Engine block, clean sanded painted in heat proof enamel paint, the top surface has been skimmed by 11 thou and the glaze buster run down the bores
2. Cylinder head, cleaned and skimmed, also skimmed the housing faces
3. All the various metal engine brackets, shot blasted and painted in black heatproof enamel paint
4. Cylinder head covers stripped and repainted, the letters have been repainted in the correct colours
5. Pistons and rods de-coked
6. New set of NPR piston rings (not yet fitted)
7. Toyota head gasket set (still in box)
8. Camshafts and pulleys, plus the bearing caps and buckets with shims, springs, collets and seats (half the valves need replacing due to corrosion)
9. All the ancilliaries (alternator, manifolds etc.)
10. the two cylinder head housings, one for the coolant temperature sensor and one for the pipe connector, both had their mating faces re-machined, and the o ring faces polished
11. a new 212mm clutch kit
12. Not sure about the crankshaft, main bearings seem to have been re-ground at some point in the past and the bearing ID numbers removed, am waiting for a micrometer to become available so i can check the journal sizes but it has non standard bearings so this may be scrap. Shame as its otherwise in good nick.

The engine is a blue top early one with the 40mm bearing journals. I will eventually put this stuff on ebay but I thought I'd give the enthusiasts of the Mk1 club first refusal, as it's been so helpful to me in the past!

As for prices I'm not sure what the parts are worth, only what they owe me in terms of work already done, so make me an offer and we'll see what happens!

Hi Jim

Do you know if the headgasket set does all the Mk1's? Mine is an '88. If so I would be interested,

Jack

Hello Jack,

I think the head gasket itself will probably fit but I think the intake manifold gasket and possibly the exhaust are different? Personally I'd get the right parts for the year, just to be sure.

Thanks Jim, probably safer to do what you suggest.
A lot of work gone into that,

Jack
