THORNFALCON MEET - SUNDAY 17th SEPTEMBER 2006
I thought we would go to the
Thornfalcon meet at Taunton as we had been the year before and Steve had phoned
to say there would be a few MK1s turning up. Had
arranged to meet up at a pub just off the M5 at 10am we were a bit
late but the rest of the club members had waited as the weather was terrible
driving up from Plymouth although the weather had been nice for Ashley and Ali
that travelled up from Weymouth.
Said a quick hello to them and Steve also Jeff from Bristol
that we had not seen from last year when we met at the Haynes Museum run,
also a lad from were Steve lives called Simon.
On arrival we were most
impressed with the amount of cars that were already there
on display, we were directed to the Eighties and Modern Classic area were
we where put last year.
We had a walk around the
cars on display - everything from Austins to a Ferrari and loads of MGs
and Triumphs that had a field to themselves, read afterwards in one of the
classic car magzines that there were more than 750 cars turned up.
We had the usual amount of
interest with the MR2 from all ages having a good look at our cars, also had a
member from Bournemouth drive up in his red T bar with two dogs for company
there was also another red mk1 join us although i did not get there name sorry.
Also had a couple talk to Steve who said they had a mk1 and when steve said to
bring it over and park next to ours they said they had arrived in there MG
that he was hoping to sell and the MR2 was in the garage at home.
In all there were seven mk1 on
the day which i thought was a really good turn out for us that live in the West
Country as last year there was only two chris and myself and Dawn.
Only problem on the day was
there were two brand new Aston Martins on show and the wife has fallen in love
with one of them will have to see if i can win the lottery.
We left at 2pm and were lucky that the weather stayed fine for the rest of the
way home.
