AVC CAR SHOW MOUNT EDGECOUMBE COUNTRY PARK, TORPOINT, NR. PLYMOUTH, DEVON - SUNDAY 7th AUGUST 2006

I went to this show last year and asked Steve if it was on for this year as it was not included in his list of shows for the West Country.

Was told yes so got the gazebo out and gave the car a good clean and polish was not able to put the word out as was working in Scotland up until a week before the show, I did ask a couple of people that I knew that had MK1s if they would like to attend on the day.

Arrived at 9am set up the gazebo and the club sign I had made had a pitch more in the centre of the field this year, 10am Steve and Ashley and Ali arrived.

Left a space for one car as bumped into Jeff that had gone last year the evening before and he said he may turn up.

Then we were swamped by over a dozen Mazda MX5s which confused a few people when they were looking around the our cars.

The weather was not so good this year but it did not rain and brightened up in the afternoon.

While walking around saw a red MK1 on a different club stand with the number plate DEC 25 looked very nice.

Overall a good day out with plenty to see and do including bouncy castles for kids and loads of stalls selling all sorts.

A nice touch from the Organizers was when I handed in my entry pass I was given a certificate of attendance, Steve and Ashley were so impressed that the key rings they were given they went back and exchanged them for the certificate.

A big thank you to Steve and Chan and Ashley and Ali for travelling so far to attend, but was disappointing only to have three cars on the day.

Martyn and Dawn Westbrook

Finally a big thanks to Steve Hallett (Ex Area Organiser) in putting so much effort into the south west area of the MK1 Club and the meets he has arranged. Hopefully someone else will be able to take up the post in the near future
