THORNFALCON MEET - SUNDAY 4th SEPTEMBER 2005
I thought we would go to the Thornfalcon meet at
Taunton as Steve the South West Area Organiser recommended it having been
before, although he was not able to attend due to a change of date as he was
booked in to compete at Wiscombe Down in a Hillclimb.
On arrival we were most impressed with the amount of cars that were already
there on display. We were directed to the Eighties and Modern Classic area,
as we were passing the line up I spotted a white MR2 MK1 that belonged to Chris
from Taunton. After parking next to a Nissan 350Z I had a chat with Chris about
the repairs that had been done on his car since we last saw him at the Haynes
motor museum, new offside rear quarter and both near side wings restored to
their best. Meanwhile my wife Dawn had spotted that we were parked right in
front of some blackberry bushes so was busy filling up a carrier bag.
I had a walk around the cars on display - everything from Austin’s to a
Ferrari and loads of MG’s and Triumphs that had a field to themselves. On the
way back we spotted a Peugeot 205 cabriolet that had a pink stripey teddy in the
back and Dawn said that must belong to Steve’s partner Chan.
While we sat by our car Chan came and said a quick hello. We had the usual
amount of interest with the MR2 from all ages.
We left around 1.30pm which was lucky as when we got to Honiton the skies
opened up and had heavy rain the rest of the way home.
