SOUTH EAST PAST PUB MEETS UP TO 2004

THE WOODMAN SUNDAY 14th MARCH 2004

Despite a very wet and windy day it was heartening to see quite a few cars arrive at the Woodman this month. Our first meeting of the year, it was nice to meet up with our old friends and meet some new members. It was good to see Andy Kent whom we hadn’t seen for a while. We said hello for the first time to Steve Minns from Epping in Essex, Pete Kyte and his son Alex from Maidstone. Also, Tom Whithers from RedHill and Bill Carlson from Croydon came along to meet us and hopefully will be joining up soon. Regular faces included Steve Kingsnorth and myself with Linda and Mark, Pete Mason and Kelly who are soon to be proud owners of a supercharger, currently being shipped over from Japan, Dave Leyland and Opel, Ken and Leslie Piner, PCT champion Alan Scott and finally Chris Falcke who came along to show us his recently aquired Celica GT4.

As the awful weather continued, we decided quite quickly not to hang around in the car park so we all headed inside the pub. Funnily enough, I believe this is the first time that we have had to seek shelter from the weather at the Woodman, and was able to appreciate the internal surroundings of the pub.

Thanks to everyone who came and look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on the ‘Essex Run’ on 4th April.

Alan Cayzer.

THE WOODMAN SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2003

A sizzling hot day again when we met at the Woodman. I can’t believe that we have been so lucky with the weather this year at all our meetings. Yet another fantastic turn out of cars this month from all over the south east with Gareth Orchard coming all the way from Luton and Pete Mason and Karl Thomas coming from the Kent coast. In fact we had cars from all counties represented, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Herts and Essex. Well done everybody for making this a great turn out. We welcomed new cars from Peter Sales from Crowborough whom we met at the Bromley Pageant show and Ron O’Keefe, both with mica blue MR2’s. Ron’s car has been re-upholstered in blue leather to a very high standard, even David Price was impressed! With sporty alloys and a few other mod’s the car looked fantastic so we were all surprised to hear that he had picked it up for £800! (and envious)

Hot, Hot, Hot! The weather was hot and so were the cars.

"Pete, are you sure this is a MK1 with a MK2 bodykit?"

THE WOODMAN SUNDAY 13th APRIL 2003

An excellent start at the first southeast pub meeting at the Woodman. With the sunshine out it was a very pleasant afternoon. At the peak we had ten lovely cars in the car park and met some new and very nice people. Steve’s SC gave us a fright when it refused to start after playing with it but was rescued by Dave Leyland who had the sense to check the fuses and found that one had blown. Were all looking forward to the Ravens Wood show on Sunday 11th May.

THE WOODMAN SUNDAY 3rd NOVEMBER 2002

Following the success of our previous meetings at the ‘Woodman’ we are arranging another meeting on Sunday 3rd November at Noon. (Meet in the car park up until 1.00pm)

After lunch we intend to drive approximately 3 miles to meet the MR2 Drivers Club for a short while at the Grasshopper Inn at Westerham. We would like to see as many members as possible at this last meeting of the year in the south east area.

May News - Kent’s Pub Meetings

By the time you read this the club Kent members will have already met twice this year. Our Kent area organiser has sent a flyer to all Kent members and the meetings are advertised on the club web site. If anyone is living in or near the Kent area and has not seen the venues and dates then contact Alan Cayzer who will be glad to give you the details.

Kent members met for the first time at the Badgers Mount Pub in North Kent on 21st April, The hottest day of the year so far! Four cars arrived at the Badgers Mount Public House. First to arrive was Organiser Alan Cayzer joined soon after by Johnathan Hutton and his fiance Lisa from Bromley, Next to arrive was Martin Bagley and Sandy from Orpington and finally David Price, our new Surrey and Middlesex Organiser from Shepperton in his gleaming Micra blue T Bar. With introductions and formalities over we all headed for ‘The Woodman’ at Ide Hill near Sevenoaks for a drink and some Lunch.

When we arrived at the Woodman we found a light blue MK1 already in the car park so naturally assuming it was another club member we all parked next to him. The next thing we know a bemused bloke comes wandering over asking what’s going on? It turned out he wasn’t a member of the club, he was there just having a quiet drink and thought he was dreaming when he saw us all arriving. Needless to say we now have a new member in the club.

Gavin Harrold was also there awaiting our arrival. Unfortunately his car is not very well at the moment but it was nice to see him. Hopefully Gavin can nurse it better before the summer and bring it to the pub soon.
