PRODUCTION CAR TRIAL - SUNDAY 25th APRIL 2004 –

Ok, I realise this event isn’t for everyone who owns an MR2 (myself included) as there is a small risk one could sustain a slight knock to the car during the trials. However, if you’ve got the type of car that’s already got a few dents or your not too bothered about receiving the odd knock then this would certainly entertain you.

On our second visit to Chapmans Hill with the Borough 19 motor club I met up with Neil and Julie in their green Mk1 whom we met here in February. This is Neil’s 2nd MR2, (His other is a MK2 Turbo) and this is just the type of event that Neil bought the car for. The weather that day was dry and sunny, the first nice weekend of this year. The conditions of the course much drier than previously, less mud, less slippery, not quite so much madness. The trials started off as before with four courses to negotiate. With the conditions much less slippery many of the participating cars managed clear rounds, including Neil!

Mark and myself watched the action throughout the sunny day taking photos and talking with the other competitors. During the afternoon, one of the B19 club organizers came up to us and asked Mark if he would like to go around the courses after the trials had finished. Mark immediately said “yes” and it was arranged that someone would come over and give him a ride. True to their word, when everyone had finished and were awaiting the results, a young man came over in a mini, invited Mark in and off they went.

They went around each course at least twice, Mark was having the time of his life.

When the results had been collated everyone gathered around to applaud the winners. At the end, a special prize was announced, awarded to Mark Cayzer for fastest time completing all the courses.

Thanks again to the Borough 19 motor club for hosting the event and making us feel very welcome and especially for giving Mark a ride he will never forget.
