Phew! What a scorcher!
Totally Transport at
Blackpool turned out to be a hot and sunny day spent on the prom!
The organisers had shut
the south promenade, sea front road in Blackpool for the show. All the vehicles
parked along the sides of the road, the club cars lined up along the famous tram
track. We had six cars for the show, so not as bad as I had feared.
Along with myself was
Margaret and Dave, Graham and Louise, Jim and Mary, Frogge and a new face in the
shape of Bruce Jackson. As the temperatures soared it was time to get the deck
chairs out (it is Blackpool after all!) and soak up the sun! the close
proximity to the sea wall gave as and excellent view of the 'Golden Mile'. We
were also just over the road from a 'folk group' who repeated their act by the
hour (and bad jokes) What do you call a bird in a shell suit? an egg! (see I told you!)
Margaret and Dave on the Prom.
We had flypasts by the Red Arrows, and Spitfire and Hurricane.
(note to self, learn to use the camera!)
Lots of historic Buses and trams, and lines and lines of Minis!
There was a huge public attendance so uncluttered photos were hard to get, harder than a ice cream from the van!
So all in all an enjoyable day by the seaside!

Totally Transport was an outstanding success for a first event and attracted well over
15,000 visitors, helped by the excellent weather which blessed the day.
The New South Promenade roadway and upper promenade area was packed with
vehicles, the trams were busy and the Solaris recorded its best day ever since
reopening last year. We also extend
our thanks to all exhibitors, without whom there would be no show!
We hope you enjoyed the day and I can tell you that we are already
starting to think of totally Transport for 2006. It would help us if you could spare some time to visit our
website and give us some feedback on the event. We want to know what you liked,
what you didn't like and what improvements you think we can make to ensure that totally Transport
is bigger and better in 2006. Click on the feedback link on the
website.
An updated gallery section will be posted on the website in the next few
days, so please keep clicking back to the totally Transport website to keep updated.
