North West Past Events
TATTON PARK SHOW - SATURDAY
and SUNDAY 20th and 21st AUGUST 2005
The club pitch was hosted by the North West area members, and was the second
event held at Tatton Park this year.
Tatton has a Classic and Vintage Rally in June and a Classic and Sports Car
Show in August. The June rally was marred by rain and mud, but the August show
was hot and sunny.
For club members Simon Taylor and John Redmond the show started Friday
afternoon with a petrol mower.
Clubs now attending Tatton Park have started to go all out to prepare the
club pitches, cutting grass, erecting bunting and flags, flower arrangements,
and of course a gazebo! Its amazing how the mention of a prize for the best Club
Pitch can motivate!
Not to be out done, Simons' help was enlisted due to his green fingers (and
his own garden centre!), a large gazebo was erected (six people required, the
Ford Capri and Cortina club supplied four, thanks!), flower filled barrels
strategically placed, club flag raised and a super sign installed.
All we need now are MR2s!
Saturday morning brought sunny weather and 8 cars and members, Fred and Doris
Sanderson, Bill Hulme, Jim Ledden, Brian Flanagan, Tom Dyke, Jo Walker, John and
Simon.
Tom was an attendee after reading of the event on the new IMOC/MR2 MK1 Club
Forum, good to see it working. Saturdays public attendance was moderately busy,
and two non-members with cars were invited on to the pitch. (ok the embarrassing
bit, I lost the bit of paper with the names on, sorry). Tatton is in easy
commuting distance for me, and well, I don't do tents..... So I left all the
campers to enjoy the night air! Jim was boasting about his 'NATO' sleeping bag,
and he tested it out by sleeping in the drivers seat, and then out on the grass
next to the drivers door!
Sunday dawned clear and sunny, but to our disappointment some light fingered
people had removed some of our plants.
I knew Sunday was going to be busy, and it sure was, by lunch time space was
getting tight, cars were getting closer together, and the planned overspill was
but into use, yep a MR2 in the gazebo! The Barbie was fired up and food was
burnt to perfection!
Ryan Kevan, Simon Taylor and Chris
Johnson (cheer up lads!)
In addition to Saturday Sunday attendees were Ryan Kevan, Wayne Duncan and
father, Neil Brindley, Margaret Prendergast, Mike Fitkin, Terry Sullivan and
Chris Johnson. We had 18 MK1s in the afternoon, a record for Tatton.
So a very successful event and good to see attendees from the IMOC forums
there to!
Again sorry if your not named here, I'll find that piece of paper one day!
