Pub Meeting Sunday 3rd December 2006
Our regular monthly meeting consisted of a Christmas get
together and as it was the festive season we decided to invite along the local
MR2 MK3 Roadster Club.
We met up at our usual location, the Church Mouse in
Durham. A warm, roaring fire greeted us as we chatted over a spot of lunch and a
nice pint. After lunch we headed over to NISSAN where Jap North East and J Tuner
were having a joint meeting. There was a good mixture of all marques of Jap
cars.
Overall a very good meeting and a rare chance to see some
Roadsters together.
Happy Christmas and a very good New Year from all of us MK1 enthusiasts in the North East
North East Pub Meeting - Sunday 5th November 2006
Todays agenda consisted of the following: A lovely dry, crisp day greeted us for Novembers regional pub meeting. I've
not had much input most of this year due to marriage commitments, i.e., getting
married, but hopefully now with the added help from Mac and John we can really
get thing moving again here in the north east. Our first priority is to find and
recruit local members to join our fantastic club. I've designed some regional
flyers and John has printed them out, I have to say the quality is excellent and
they look great with our new north east logo printed at the top. We are going to
do 20 x A4 sized posters to put up in the 10 TOYOTA dealerships throughout the
north east. As well as these posters we have smaller sized flyers to place under
wipers and through the letter boxes of MK1 that are on drive ways. In addition I
also want to include these in new members starter packs that we are in the
middle of designing. After the pub meet we drove the short distance to Johns
garage where he has a small business specialising in MK1 work. WE decided to do
an MR2 photo shoot for a new business advert.
FRA engineering is owned by John and he specialises in any MK1 work,
servicing, etc. It has been decided that one of my MK1s that hasn't been used
for years is to be assessed to see if it is suitable for a track car. We
discussed this at length at the meeting along with Paul Tunnicliffe who is also
mad keen on the proposed idea. I'll keep you posted with progress regarding the
new track car.
It was great to see Mike and Viv attend the meeting and we hope to see more
of you in the coming months. Hopefully Mike will get his very rare gun grey
Supercharger back on the roads for us all to enjoy.
Overall a good meeting with progress made. Next meeting will be at the same
place as usual on Sunday 3rd December 2006. Would be great if we got around 15
MK1s attend the next meeting.
UPDATE 16th MAY 2006
The next meeting will be a pub social meeting at the Church Mouse on Sunday
4th June from 11.30am, I hope to see you there. I'll be discussing the following
with you and really do hope you will give me as much input and support as
possible.
- BTCC British Touring Car Championship at Croft Sunday July 16th followed by
BBQ.
- JAE Peterbouough Show and Friday convoy.
- North Yorks Moors Run ( Sunday 2nd July ) I will have flyers to give out
for this one.
- North East Motorshow 2006.
Look forward to seeing you all there.
Cheers

Monthly Pub Meetings
2004 was pretty much a non event for our regular monthly Sunday social
meetings, mainly due to other commitments and various other reasons. I feel now
its time for the rebirth of the meetings and put the spirit back into the club
as it was when we started in February 2002.
We have a new organiser of the monthly meets, local member Mac Sheavills from
Stanley in Co.Durham, owner of a very nice 1989 MK1 Supercharged t-bar. Mac has
kindly agreed to look after this interest on behalf of the north east region of
the MK1 Club. We have decided to rename the meetings as the 'Sunday
Social Meet' and will take place at the same place, the Church Mouse on
the outskirts of Durham city on the A167 between Pity Me and Chester-le-Street.
From the A1(M), exit at Junction 63, taking the A167 south towards
Chester-le-Street and Durham. Continue on the A167 for 2.5 miles, passing three
roundabouts, and the Church Mouse is situated on the left prior to the fourth
roundabout.
Mac can be contacted at home on 01207 231601 after 7pm / mobile 07816991136

As before we plan to meet up on the 1st Sunday of each month in the car park
of the Church Mouse from 11.30am - 12.00pm. This is purely a chance to meet up
with regional members and enthusiasts from around the North East and share
experiences. The lodge do lovely quality meals so feel free to tuck in.
Mac will be there awaiting the arrival of you all on Sunday 7th
August, there will be NO Sunday social on June 5th as
its a Club trip to Croft for the British Superbike Championship. It would be
great if you could all make the effort to attend if possible, we are looking
forward to the start of the new monthly social meets.
A welcome to our 2 new regional
organisers, Mac Sheavills and John Light
