the UK's first MK2 turbo powered (3s-gte) MK1 MR2 and number 7 in the world.
job:- time served motor engineer and lpg gas installer, paint sprayer
and also panel beater/welder.
reason for liking the MR2:- it's the
most fun you can have for the least amount of money, a true sports car in every
sense of the word, perfectly balanced engine layout, superb suspension physics
and handling characteristics, still out-performs modern day sports cars in the
same class and they turn heads where ever you go, also highly tunable and
extremely reliable, but the best thing is they have the "x" factor...there's
just something about them that other sports cars just don't have.
best
thing about the club:- superb social events and technical expertise given
free from people who really know about their cars, rather than just being
drivers of them.

Fiesta drop links all round (stronger than Toyota items) MK2 turbo rear
anti-roll bar, polyurethane bush set soon to be fitted.

standard brakes on rear, four pot calipers soon to be fitted on front.
Lives: Ferryhill / Co.Durham
Car
: 1988 Coupe standard apart from fitted front strut brace
Best thing
about MR2 : Everyone looks at you and you can tell they approve!!
Best thing about club : The people within the MR2 circle and the
events. I have made a lot of friends and had many great times. I attend Le Mans
every year with the club and it's one of the highlights on the club calendar
Club Member:- Almost a year now.
Lives:- Stanley, Co Durham.
Job:- Team supervisor /
Trainer, for a large call centre in Newcastle
Reason for liking the
MR2:- The whole driving experience, makes you really feel a part of the car,
not just the driver! The amount of people who turn heads is very gratifying, and
most importantly it's just pure fun, fun, fun.
Best thing about
the club:- Meeting friends, not just people with a similar interest, and
sharing a passion with these people. The club also provides an opportunity
to get out and about and visit places you probably wouldn't normally go to.
The Car:- 1988 T-BAR in Dark Blue, Standard apart from the 3 spoke
alloys and the 10 disc autochanger in the boot!! So standard it still has those
lovely T-Bar roof bags!! and the original teardrop alloys.
Footnote:-
I have tried living without my MK1, when my original Red T-Bar developed some
serious problems and I had to get rid of her, but after 6 months without I just
had to replace her. It's not just the car itself that makes you feel this
way, it's the club life and people as well! The club is a credit to that
wonderful little sports car we all love!!!
Lives:- Gateshead / Windynook
car:- 1987 Coupe Standard
best thing about car:- The 80's
style, Performance and Handling
Best thing about the club:- The
people in the club. I really enjoy organising all the north east shows.
