FINS 'N CHROME SHOW - PRESTON
PARK - SUNDAY 29th MAY 2005
Sad to say this was a very disappointing turnout
representing the MR2 MK1. Early in the day there were only 2 cars at
the show, one owned by member Steve Raettig and the other belonging to myself.
Fortunately later in the morning member Greg Bloodworth arrived in his
magnificent Ferrari 355 Berlinetta accompanied by his wife Jean and their two
little girls. Greg has recently acquired a MK1 which he is presently restoring
bock to road worth condition. His Ferrari was fantastic and needless to say
attracted a lot of attention to the club stand, like bees around a honey pot.
There was also a great deal of attention focused towards the two MR2s. Steve's
car was looking in very good shape, a lot of preparation had gone into it
looking just right for the show, he spent a lot of the day with polish and
cloth., I might find I have future competition...! It has been said in the past
I spend more money on polish than petrol. Well done Steve, a you're a credit. My
thanks to Steve for his support throughout the day and particularly the bacon
sandwich he afforded me which he cooked on his BBQ.
There should have been three MR2s on the
day, but due to a misunderstanding on the day Bob Pollock had already turned up
the on the Saturday a day too early, sorry about that Bob, but many thanks
nevertheless for your intended support.
The weather was good to us and the turnout of
American and Classic cars was brilliant and up to the usual high standard. A
great day was had by all.
My thanks must go out to my mam and dad and
wife Claire for their help and moral support on the day. As previously said my
thanks also must go to Steve and Greg for valued help and support. It was lovely
meeting Greg's family who had kindly made the effort to accompany him. We wish
Greg all the best in his endeavours to bring his MK1 back to life and
roadworthy standard, his superb 355 certainly needs NO renovation
whatsoever.
Well that's it for me for 2005, no more
Classic shows for me till next year. My thanks go to all the Club members who
have supported the shows throughout the year.

Message from Michael Sheavills
A personal thank you to Andrew for his
wonderful contribution to the region. Andrew has always worked very
enthusiastically in organising the classic shows on behalf of the club. We have
had very little support this year from local members which is hugely
disappointing when volunteer members give up their valued free time to organise
activities for you. Despite this Andrew has held his head high and got on with
the programme. Well done, I look forward to the 2006 Classic calendar with great
anticipation.
