CLASSIC CAR GATHERING - CLOTHERHOLME FARM RIPON - SUNDAY 13th July 2003

When we attended our 1st regional classic meeting back in April at Ripon racecourse we were invited by the organisers to attend another classic meeting with all proceeds going to Cancer Research. With money raised going to such a good cause we really wanted to attend this one. The date was Sunday 13th July and the venue was Clotherholme Farm in Ripon North Yorkshire.

Classic Car Club organiser Andrew Hudson set about the task of organising cars and stand for the event and on the day we had seven club cars including Dave Watchmans Karmeleon conversion. We watched in pain as Dave negotiated the rather tricky farm hills and bumps making his way to the show ground, with a ground clearance of only 4 inches I have to say Dave did a sterling job.

The event itself was a lot bigger than we had anticipated with hundreds of classics from all over the north east including trucks and tractors. Other car clubs who attended were: Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club, Harrogate MG Owners Club, Jorvik and York MG Owners Club, Mercedes Benz Club, Stag owners Club, Triumph Mayflower Owners Club and the Wolseley register.

Our club gained a lot of interest as it was something different from the usual traditional classic vehicles. We talked to a number of people who owned or had previously owned the MK1 MR2. We met 2 members of the public who owned MK1's and insisted they brought them onto the stand.

Overall a very hot but great classic day. Thanks to Andrew and all the members who brought their cars along for a terrific event.
