Sunday May 4th 2003 - Ripon Classic Motor Show and Autojumble
Bring promoted as Classic Car Rally Events Manager,
I was determined to do a good job for the Club. It was therefore important that the first show went well.
It was the Classic Motor Show which was held at Ripon Racecourse.
On the morning of the show Clare and I met up with Michael Sheavills
and a member of the Club who was hoping to sell his MR2 at the Show. We
set off to the next meeting point at Scotch Corner to pick up Keith Smith,
whose car was looking very smart. Off we went again to Leeming Bar to pick up Mike and Viv
and two new members Lee and Andrea. Then off we went in convoy.
There were no problems en route and we arrived at Ripon in good time to prepare for the Show.
We had a total of 10 cars, two of which were exhibited by members from the North West Region.
This was a good turnout especially as we had a mixture of colours – red, white and blue.
Most importantly, the weather was very good, despite the weathermen insisting it would rain.
We had an enjoyable day looking at members’ cars which were all very well presented and looked very good.
May I extend my thanks to all members who attended. It was really good to see new members.
The success of the Show would not have been possible without your support,
and not forgetting the help and guidance of Michael Sheavills.
As always, we are indebted to him for the wonderful pictures he takes at all events.
I hope to see you all at the next event which is the Fins ‘n’ Chrome Show at Preston Park
on 24th and 25th May 2003 - for further details please see the web site.
