HOW TO FIND US

The Charnwood Arms is situated beside the A511 between junction 22 of the M1 and the town of Coalville.

From the M1 or Leicester take the A511 towards Coalville. The hotel is located close to the second roundabout after the motorway. Take the B585 (Ibstock) exit from this roundabout. The hotel is facing you and the entrance is about 100 yards on the right.

From A42/Coalville follow the signs towards the M1 south. The Hotel is situated on the right hand side about two miles down the A511. Exit the A50 at the second major roundabout and follow B585 towards Ellistown/Ibstock.

There was a good turn out on Sunday 27th February 2005. Despite the cold weather and a promise of snow sometime during the day, happy to say it never came.

The members attending were:
Isabel Beardsmore White
Jo Walker White (new member)
Two visitors White
Mark Sketchley Red
Ted Collins Red
Stuart and Christopher Kynoch Red

We must give Geoff full marks for attending after spending over two weeks in hospital. He is suffering a lot of pain but didn't want to miss the meeting. We wish him a speedy recovery.

We are heading towards the warmer Summer months so we should have some good pleasant meetings at Bardon, thanks to everyone who came this time, we would like to see some new faces and cars of course.

MCCC MEET WEDNESDAY 26th MAY 2004

MCCC MEET WEDNESDAY 28th APRIL

OK, I know I promised everyone warm sunshine so we could sit outside the pub for the first of the summer season Wednesday evening meets, but 9 MR2s did turn up despite the rain. As it was we made a quick run for the pub. As Loughbororough was sort of on everyone's route home, we decided to adjourn to the Priory which is only about 5 miles away and is quite close to J23 of the M1, where we stayed till chucking out time.

MCCC MEET SUNDAY 29th JANUARY 2004

This was the first meeting held at our new venue at the Charnwood Arms, Bardon, Leicestershire. A fine bright sunny day resulted in a good turnout of 12 MR2s, 6 from Loughborough and the rest from as far afield as Stafford and North Lincolnshire.

Tim Swann arrived in his newly acquired white Supercharger. Tim’s MR2 is a late model ‘tin top’ i.e. it is neither a t-bar nor a sun roof model, with automatic transmission, climate control, colour coded door handles and electrically retracting door mirrors. Tim was amazed to discover that his MR2 also had a sophisticated after market Japanese coil over suspension with adjustable shock absorbers and adjustable springs. The car also has adjustable top mounts, which allow quick adjustment of the wheel camber. This set up would make an ideal track day car.

There was a good turn out of other classic cars as well, with 2 E-types, 3 Rolls Royce’s, a rare AC and a De Lorean amongst many others.

Fred Sanderson spent a long time removing his driver’s door panel to try and fix a loose door handle.

We lined the cars up at the edge of the large car park so as to be easily seen from the main road.

Our group was – as usual – the last to leave after adjourning to the bar to escape the cold.

Our new venue is very easy to find as the pub is adjacent to a large roundabout about a mile from J22 of the M1 on the edge of Charnwood Forest. When the weather gets better we will arrange a short drive over the forest to one of the many beauty spots in the area. Why not come and join us at the next meet? – 11am Sunday 29th February.

De Lorean at the 29th May 2002 meet

September 2002 was the first anniversary of us joining the MCCC. In our first year we have seen MR2 attendances increase from 1 - just me for the first one - to an average of 7 and a record of 12. In June we joined the MCCC at the Melton Mowbray show, see: http://www.mr2mk1club.com/pastevs72.html for report.
